I didn't think the Coen Brothers were capable of making a bad movie, but I was wrong. I disliked it immensely, and especially because the title character mistreats not one but TWO cats. Not a single character in the movie was likeable. I didn't like Llewyn anyway, but his mistreatment of the cats made him deserve his misery, IMO. John Goodman and his "friend" were the only interesting characters, and that went nowhere except Llewyn mistreating the second cat. I regret wasting two hours of my life on this dreary, nasty movie. Don't waste YOUR precious time on it. The whole message is about the frustrations of artists trying to be successful, stay real, yadda yadda; the cycle of failures some people get caught in (which this guy brought on himself, so no sympathy there); and being in the right place at the right time but overshadowed by an up and comer (Spoiler alert! Bob Dylan!) might have been compelling but Llewyn is just such a jerk that I was glad he failed at everything. Hated it!
