I could wax eloquent about the beautiful love story or use fancy words to tell you how intricately interwoven all the plot points are but I won't. What I will tell you is that I'm a grown man who was hoping to be so terrified I would need to make the whole family sleep in one room for weeks after watching this show. Sadly the only terror I felt was the fear that I had waited an entire year for nothing. "The Haunting of Hill House" was perfection but this is more akin to an extremely long and eerie Hallmark movie. I made it two episodes in before quiting for good because it just isn't scary. For those of you who say you have to wait for it to get good at episode seven I say if I have to watch something for seven hours before it catches my interest then the showrunner has failed utterly. This is supposed to be horror, not romance. Do better with season three, if there is a season three after this terrible follow up.
