you may really like this movie. you may despise it. you, by the end of it, will very likely have no idea what you're supposed to feel. this movie traumatized my girlfriend and confused the hell out of me. i laughed plenty, but was only a few surprises away from being convinced that i had accidentally clicked on a new series of black mirror. i felt claustrophobic. i felt like i was stuck in their world--and trust me when i say that this is not a world you want to be living in.
some have said that the social commentary felt meaningless, but i think it speaks to how there are people that, despite not being elected as government officials, have so much control over society. sometimes, i too feel as though I'm being turned into a 'horse person' by a system that enforces reliance upon it's people. i think the main reason people were upset with this movie is because so much of its appeal relies on the viewer interpreting its metaphor.
no matter how you feel about this movie, i think it deserves recognition for it's originality. i respect the producers for making sure they were doing things that none had done before, and i give massive credit to the film for being it's own thing in so many ways.
