I have read the book and was very hopeful that film makers could capture the essence of the book. I enjoyed the movie and the adaptation. However, I don’t think there is a film maker that can really capture the darkness of the book and mind of Stephen King. Two have tried and failed.

No where close to the original. I understand you have to put your own twist on the story but story line was not close.
Ron Howard’s is still the best. Also as a father of 3....I was disappointed the father was left out of this version.
Do not recommend this movie. Just Netflix the originals and save your money
