Mediocre. Glitchy. Boring.
This game was the only thing I was hyped for when I saw a reveal several months ago. An open environment FNAF game? Sign me up! 40 bucks? Well worth it!
But oh, it's not exactly what I expected. It's 2021, I have a PS5, and I figure games should be moving forward with technology. No autosaving is a bummer, and honestly a weird and pointless design choice. The game also isn't all that scary, which is kinda the point of what makes the series so great. The original games and ideas were ground breaking and simple. This gives a sense of nostalgia to those original ideas, and to classic open world adventure games as a whole, but the execution is kind of lame.
From enemies glitching through walls to spawning and warping randomly when they shouldn't, it kind of ruins all immersion. Which kind of takes all the horror away from a horror game. It's too clunky for it to be any fun, so double down on how this just isn't worth playing.
The characters and setting is really cool however. I really do think the concept is great. It doesn't deserve to be this mess of an uninteresting and confusing story. Even with the multiple endings, there's no point where things make sense. So make that three for three on negativity. There is no redeeming factor for this unless you are a die hard fan of the series and you want to support it.
If you think the creators deserve more profit for making a popular franchise, it's your choice to waste your money on this. To me, there was not a single moment that I felt "money well spent on a game I was excited about".
