Finale did great injustice to Saul’s character. The show writers had immense over confidence because of their success that they put in least efforts to make the finale differ.
I mean, we are not talking about a fairytale here where good always prevails over evil. All the characters that have wronged people are now gone. ABQ is finally a better place.
Seriously? Show makers who fully succeeded in bringing fiction so close to reality just decided that the characters who wronged people suffered in the end?
Saul Goodman was such a beautifully crafted character, and his speciality was no matter how tight the situation gets he would escape it. And throughout two shows we’ve seen him using his skills to keep Walter and himself and many others out of prison. He was the only with sound mind. He had realistic thinking and emotions were always secondary to him.
And in the end, the writers just decided that he would turn into a self destructive person digging his own grave and also accepting his mistakes, accepting his punishment, winning his love back, embracing his good side, seeking redemption?
Not all bad people get caught, all bad people do care for someone, many smart bad ones get away, they feel guilt but they know how to live with it. Being crooked was Saul’s nature and there’s no two faces, it’s just what he is collectively as a person.
Utterly disappointed with the show’s ending. Breaking bad did justice to the character of Walter white, in the end he accepts that he did it all just because he felt good and that was like the most brilliant and simplest explanation for that character and he kept going until his body finally gave up after getting shot.
While Saul who always survived just finally decided to just give up in the end.
The show is brilliant in terms of cinematic shots, crafting of characters, build up, references to the original show and in those ways it is a must watch. But to me, the finale is as important as any other aspect in terms of rating the show overall. And in my opinion, the finale is disappointing.
