So far I’ve played for 8 hours and I don’t think I’ll be playing further.
The concept of the game is great, it’s beautiful and the music and sound effects are great. The puzzles are fun if a little repetitive.
However
Omg the dialogue just never ends. There are sooo many instances where I thought ‘this whole last ten minutes has been useless nonsense’. I think out of those 8 hours, at least 7 have been spent just wishing the dialogue was skippable and that the slooooow moving camera during the endless cutscenes would move faster.
I enjoyed the story to begin with, the mayor and the school but the characters are too cliche and it’s almost painful to read their dialogue sometimes, and now I’m not really sure what’s going on story wise I just seem to be running back and forth through a forest chasing random animals.
The mini game seems fun but the initial ‘tutorial’ of playing it is so confusing and jarring, there is useless npc dialogue over the whole thing that is just distracting while the actual mini game text moves so fast you can’t even read it and it doesn’t pause between lines to let you catch up so once you’ve set all your characters to their actions it just whizzes through and there’s no way to keep up with that’s happening.
Tutorial for the whole game is also disappointing, to begin with I spent a lot of time just wandering around pressing random buttons to figure out what I was supposed to do, the help page is the most unhelpful help page I’ve ever seen, half of it just tells you the basic controls but doesn’t actually give you any information about anything else. The quest log is also really unhelpful and doesn’t give you much to go off so I feel like I’m just walking between points on the map to get stuck in half an hour of dialogue and cut scenes each time. Being able to zoom in/out on the map would also have been a nice feature.
All in all, the gameplay was just not worth having to sit through hours of cringey, unskippable and unnecessary dialogue and cut scenes.
