One of the main phrases of the musical theme for this movie, The Godfather, was lifted/stolen from a 1921 black and white film called "The Ace of Hearts," starring Lon Chaney and Leatrice Loy. It's quite obvious when you compare the two films, and hear the lifted material. So it's, of course, not an original score. The movie was produced by Goldwyn.
