Slow, too fragmented and ultimately boring. Full of potential, but many of the characters are so unlikeable and the plot drags. It feels like it’s trying to mirror previous more powerful dystopian thrillers, but got lost in arty shots and sad piano music.

Set in Edinburgh, the slate-grey historic architecture mirrors a thick plot full of historic shadows. The main character, a flawed but fiercely passionate detective battling to hold on to his sobriety. The stark horror of murder and child rape somehow cushioned by camaraderie, and woke-free comic moments. A bumbling but likeable police chief prone to bursts of helpless outrage. Poetic in places, farcical in others, it’s certainly layered and watchable.

Terrible acting, cliches galore. Lead actors have no chemistry or appeal. Watch Black Mirror instead!
