Two of my FAVOURITE comedians, DAVE CHAPPELLE and RICKY GERVAIS, released Netflix specials over the 2023 xmas holidays.
Gotta say, nowhere near close to their best work...
Ricky is still going on about how lame woke people are (which I agree) but had nothing new (or funny) to add on this dead horse topic.
In fact, he did the same thing he did in his last special where he explained how he was 'telling the thing that we are not supposed to say out loud', as if he was doing a comedy lecture to a bunch or retards.
Honestly, I just got bored, and it took three goes to get through it.
When it comes to DAVE CHAPPELLE I was just as disappointed. CHAPPELLES best comedy is telling vividly hilarious and insightful stories that you'd never guess. But he couldn't resist mentioning the 'TRANS community' or, and this honestly is even more painful........the dude spends a lot of time just talking about how great he thinks he is and how great he thinks we think he is and how he was wronged by various entities (racism, employers and fellow comedians) throughout his career.
It just felt self indulgent.
I love both of these comedians, but if I was to compare their latest specials with SHANE GILLIS' latest special there's no comparison. GILLIS' special had me laughing out loud, GERVAIS & CHAPPELLE'S had me wondering what had happened to these titans of comedy...
