I did watch this movie at my local AMC in the Bay Area.
What can I say, this movie is financed and produced at the order of Ministry of Propaganda (yes, look it up, there is such a government ministry in China) for the centennial anniversary of CCP founding date (1921-2021).
That being said, the script is very generic, and the conversation between characters have no depths, sometimes very weird, out of place, unsynchronized, because the demand for propaganda that the scriptwriters forced to insert into the plot. Many scenes are unnecessary to the plot, created purely for propaganda and "stirring patriotic, communist-loving feelings" purpose.
The propaganda is so obvious: you (the viewers) should love China, love communism, love the communist sacrifice, hate the American imperialist, the Korean war was American aggression toward China, Mao Zedong sacrificed a lot for China, etc....
Fighting scenes are intense, but CGI is only at Hollywood 90s-level, subpar compared to latest Hollywood CGI, worse than even "Saving Private Ryan", a 1998 Hollywood war film.
In summary, unwatchable for non-Chinese communists, which is pretty much the entire global audience outside of China.
Did I mention giving this movie a 1 star rating can land you in prison in China? Apparently a Chinese journalist got arrested and jailed when he said the Chinese dying in Korea is "stupid" when talking about this movie.
