Wonderful 1970s drama set amongst ordinary folk and their simple yet complex lives. Father is infuriating at first but you soon discover his motive. Such a simple tale still being played out in households everywhere today. Totally gripping and forever good. Hadn’t seen it for ages, then the herring appeared and it all came back ! A bit like the herring itself…The way Mother appears almost as a servant to the household may grate on modern minds, but that’s how it was for millions of women who became Housewives when they married. Wonderful nostalgia trip, possibly with rose tinted specs.

Great fun and for people who,complain it’s jusf a bike chase, what’s so different from all the other films that are just boring car chases?? At least these chases are powered by legs of various shapes and sizes, something for everyone! A high speed tale of good triumphing over evil yet again, set against the terrifying backdrop,of New York City traffic. As a cyclist, it was thrilling, but it didn’t make me want to go out and do what our hero and heroine did. Rather give much respect to the unsung heroes of the bike courier world. Be careful out there.

I love it’s gentle humour and watching the development of the characters. It’s not side splitting funny but just enough with a touch of pathos as you learn each ghost’s story. The ‘live’ couple are llovely too. It’s unusual and a treat to watch something of good quality for a change.
