Could’ve been a 2-hour movie. Things I didn’t need to see:
Episode 2
20 minutes of air time cutting cookies
The organ harvesting plot? Why
In any given episode, 70% of it.
Sae-Byok (spelling?) was the only character who developed in the slightest. That being said, remember that she held her breath and didn’t pass out during the second car ride to the island? Right, it amounted to nothing. Extremely predictable plot “twists”, from the Old Man as the host down to the littlest things, like the suitcase being full of $. It was wildly off-brand for Sang-Woo to off himself to the point where it wasn’t remotely believable. The VIPs were awful. Front Man went from being willing to save his brother’s life to shooting him after about five seconds and not even a word from either. Finale answered next to nothing, least of all the feasibility of nobody detecting 456 disappearances a year all on the same night over a 30-year span, or the return of one of the 456 with the equivalent of 38mil USD a week or so later.
Things that were done well:
Tug of war strategy/execution. Predictable but cute
Initial shock of the guns in RLGL
Ali’s character was likable. He was about the only one.
Are we supposed to pretend that the 14 people who left in E2 and didn’t return (and their equivalents for 30 years) just sat idly by in the Internet era without banding together/finding each other/taking on the organization?
