The novel The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas uses literary devices such as figurative language to portray the main theme of racism and police brutality involving community and culture. We see the different emotions of the characters expressed through literary devices. The book itself was very exciting to read, I personally found a lot of which I could relate to. I was entertained by the author's vivid descriptions as it made me feel like I too was a character reliving every intense moment. I definitely recommend this novel to anyone willing to read it!
