I started losing what belief I had after friends recommended reading Under The Banner of Heaven. I defended the church as I was reading it. Then, I read this. My belief that there is anything good in the church, humans aside, vanished. No doubt there are genuine people willing to lead a pious life and so all the things necessary for it, but the fact is they are being led around by falsehoods and half truths. This read helped change my life. I’m so much more happy now than I ever was before.
