The show borrows a lot from other things, mainly the Thing and Arrival. If they'd done this well it wouldn't be an issue, but it's poorly written. The few good actors, like Ian Glenn, are doing their best to deliver really cringeworthy lines. The plot itself is total nonsense. The character trying to fix it is treated like a villain, and the "heroes" behave like idiots. I really hope they don't make another season.
