Truly an achievement in film making. Denis Villeneuve has done the impossible. He adapted what was once said to be unfilmable source material into a thrilling, breath taking and emotional experience. Denis showed us what makes the Dune universe so special. I know that some people felt in Part 1 that the characters were a little too hollow and it was too slow. Here, the characters feel more rich and the stakes are even higher. There is complex interplay between politics, religious fanaticism, revenge, destiny, among many others. There are moments in this movie where you sit back in awe and question how was someone able to pull this off. It’s the same feeling I have with the Lord of the Rings movies. The best part about this movie is Paul’s arc. I knew how it would play out from knowing the books but it still took me by surprise and was pulled off beautifully. Everything is top notch. The visuals, score, sound design, story, acting, characters, pacing, etc. This is one that will be remembered for years to come. Watch it on the biggest and loudest screen if possible. It’s a remarkable achievement and immersive experience.
