This movie is absolutely heartwarming.
It didn’t deserve the hate it got.
Please give it a chance.
#1- It touches on important topics such as interracial relationships, different cultures, microagressions, immigration, normalizing men being open with their emotions.(being open with emotions in general, but the fact that the guy was the empathetic emotional water character helps push away the “boys can’t cry” thing.
#2- It’s also the first and only Disney/Pixar film were the romance characters BOTH audibly say “I love you” to eachother.
#3- The characters are very diverse and interesting. They express emotions differently and have vastly different cultures, traditions, food, clothes, agriculture, sports, and humor.
#4- the way the elements are animated are beautiful, especially water.
#5- Ember and Wade have vastly different strong personalities, and the contrast between them is what makes their relationship dynamic very entertaining to watch, they balance each other perfectly.
I don’t usually like romantic movies, especially straight ones due to them not being as relatable, (me being a lesbian), so I wasn’t expecting to like this movie but do!
The world of elemental is so fascinating. This is one of those movies that deserves/needs a sequel due to there being much more to explore about this world. They only really dived in on the culture of water and fire, but they barely grazed what earth and air are like. I loved the contrast between the families of Fire and Water, I would love to see more of this world and know about the other elements. Plus, what would the children of two different elements be? A new element, and I’m interested.
This movie tugs on your heart in all the best ways. This is the sweetest film I have seen, and I highly recommend you give it a chance. ❤️💙
