Dante's Peak is a movie in which a volcano explodes, and that's the entire movie, and it's GREAT. The relationship plotlines with the love interest and her kids, the side characters, the drama about evacuating the town, they're all there to make it more of a narrative story, but those elements are background to the volcano exploding, because this is a disaster movie about a volcano exploding and exactly how much of a disaster that is. 3.5/5 (rounded to 4 for Google) because while the entire point of the movie is "what happens when a volcano explodes" and also "watch how much danger these characters are in when the volcano explodes" (which are both excellent premises for a disaster movie), the relationship bits and dialogue are very clunky and often not great, and there are a couple really egregious scientific inaccuracies.
