This is not Halo. It is another show made by writers who believe themselves better than the source material. If you hate the source material so much, make your original product and stop riding already successful franchises. This show steals from other franchises like Star Wars and The Expanses while being ashamed of the source material. Anyone who calls themselves a fan of the source material and gives 5 stars is being deceitful. This show does not follow the source material plot, character development, themes, etc. To simplify this before it becomes a 3-page rant the source material was a war story. The source material evolved technology but kept a morden designed to instill dread in their readers. There are spaceships, robots, and many other sci-fi elements but the design and visuals are made to bring a modern look to it. It is done so the carnage and destruction have some weight. A "that could be us if 1st contact goes wrong". The show went for generic good guy vs bad guy, stole the space engine from Star Wars, and the ploy of the Expanses. There are multiple examples of how the show was ashamed of the source material but one of its biggest ones are the Spartans and Halsey. In the source material, the Spartans were controlled through patriotism. The UNSC deemed any form of mind control to be too dangerous as they could easily turn resentful and turn against the UNSC. The TV show ignored this reasoning and went with the exact plotline. Halsey in the source material represents the dangers of unchecked science. The fact even in this day and age we have scientists who would engage in amoral research if left unchecked but also the fact their research can spearhead scientific development by decades. An example of this is Nazi Germany's medical research. They did atrocities in the name of science but that research has saved millions of lives. In the source material, Halsey's leash was loosened so that she could create the Spartans and save billions of lives. It was an immortal decision made only because every other option failed. When the war was over many of the people who worked with Halsey committed suicide because they couldn't live with themselves. What they did save billions of lives but the weight of their sins was too much. The UNSC is not designed to be evil, they were put in a position where they had to abandon their morals to save tens of billions of lives. Could you uphold your morals in that situation? The TV show went for generic bad guys for the sake of being bad guys.
