If you are looking for a beautiful live action remake of the original cartoon you are out of luck. The original story, characters, and music are gone. There is no character development and the feeling of their built connection is completely missing. There is no mention of any dragon, no lucky crickets, and really none of the original fun. The whole movie feels very gloomy with random battles. The main point of the story is that Mulan is special because she was born with more chi than others. She didn't grow to be this great warrior, she is just better than everybody else. She is a skinny stick with no muscle, but she can climb, run forever, and be a top gymnast because she is just better. Everyone else seems inferior and sometimes stupid compared to her. Even the all powerful bird witch, who is strong and calculating in the beginning of the movie ends up dying because of a really stupid move that she could have handled much better, judging by her abilities. Honestly, even if this wasn't a remake of a great movie, it would still just be a poorly directed asian war themed film that i wouldn't advise anyone to watch.
