I watched this movie as a little girl and it was very moving. Now as a adult, I find it riveting. In fact, I recently viewed this with my children and they were moved by it as well. Furthermore, we all had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with Mr. Ernest Gaines about 6 years ago and it was a great honor. He is truly a genius.

This was an awesome movie created from nonfictional events befitting for Black History Month. It reveals how God can take one person - in this case a female - and bring forth liberty. And, I also find that Cicely L. Tyson's performance was outstanding. Also, Orson Welles was an awesome narrator.
