I found "War Room" so rich that I thought anything that followed it would be less stirring. Also, a group of women and I did the Bible Study with "War Room," so it was made even more personal in weeks following our viewing. However, "Overcomer" hit another spot of need, and I am enthusiastic about doing the Bible Study. In days following the viewing, my ears were hearing so many define themselves with trivial labels. My brothers and sisters in the family of God and I aren't living with the strength and enthusiasm that would fit who we really are in Christ. Also, I've listened to online interviews and Kendrick sermons, and feel my personal spiritual walk is impacted by hearing about their prayerful process as they watch and listen for God's guidance before and during production. I appreciate that the writing is solid, the casting seems to be exactly right, the sets are easy to fit into. Nothing hits a sour note to distract me. Five stars out of five from our house.
