I love this film. It is tender, sensitive, and radiates love. It wonderfully recreates the realities of communist Czechoslovakia. Huge applause for not Americanizing the film's setting (except for the house under construction that Lenka visits, which looks American and unlike anything built in the Czech Republic). The film deeply explores the cosmonaut's journey into the meaning of his humanity and existence, highlighted by the beautiful scene of hugging an alien. This embrace symbolizes the hero recognizing the alien as a sentient being after overcoming his self-focused suffering. The film is meticulously planned and is not suited for viewers who prefer straightforward action movies. Thank you, Adam Sandler, for this journey.
