This sequel to 'Outlander' is simply amazing. Astonishingly keen observation of nature as seen, heard and felt through all the senses. Adamson renders human gesture and expression masterfully and poetically. Her characters and dialogue are unforgettable. Set at the turn of the 19th century when the Canadian and U.S. border was still very fluid and movement much easier, it felt like time-travel to this reader.
