Just finished the show and honestly this is the worst thing I've seen on Netflix.
I came into this not knowing anything about resident evil besides there being zombies and even though I had nothing to base it on, it was still basically unwatchable. The worst part was the storytelling. I understand going back to understand how it all happened but it made all the young characters so difficult to watch. I just couldn't seem to figure out who the show was for. I assume I would be the target audience as a teenage girl because it seems the plot really only focused on the young version of Jade, but I hated her character. The acting alone was hard to watch and what made it almost intolerable was the writing. I could write a better screenplay hanging from a door frame by my legs. I watched this hoping to have something as good as the walking dead or as great as The Witcher adaptation, but it didn't even hit close to either of those. Had they may be focused more on adult Jay and her character then she would have been someone I cared about and rooted for. Instead, I found myself rooting for that heavy guy with red hair. He was the the only good character and he was funny. He should have lived longer. The only few things that made the show watchable were the somewhat gameplay POVs and the horror aspect of the show. However, the unrealisticness and the stupidity of Jade and her sister were vomit-inducing. Jade somehow jumped off a burning building a good 20 to 30 feet onto a car hood and didn't shader her leg! Then she sprinted and somehow throughout the rest of the show, she was just fine. Not to mention the amount of concussions she got! I have a few friends who have played the games and love them and they could not make it past the first episode. None of them finished it because they said it barely even felt like the game and the story was boring. This show can't even be a stand-alone series because the story is so poorly written. I can't say I had high expectations but this was so mediocre, especially for Netflix.
