The overarching theme that they have woven throughout the game comes within a few minutes of the start when Joel sings to Ellie “If I we’re to lose you, is surely lose myself.” This is true for both of them evidently and this is the story Naughty Dog expertly told. It made me feel the deepest emotions over characters any video game ever has and that deserves praise.
