A great film. It stands apart from the previous version with Richard Thomas in the excellent cinematography. They should get an Oscar for this and maybe a couple of others as well. The attention to fine details regarding uniforms, equipment, tanks, and combat conditions is remarkable.
One expects horrific violence given a movie of this kind. However, if you want to portray the violence and visceral images of this war, and be respectful of those who lived it or died as a result of it, then you must show it as it was. This film does that, and this, by itself, makes it a great film.
There is so much about this film that needs mention, but the best thing is to watch it yourself and appreciate the place it brings you to.
Besides, both my sons (30’s PT and a PA) loved it.
