Premise was interesting. What kept this movie engaging was the performance by Julianne Moore and most of Charles Melton. Sometimes in his big moments it felt like he didn’t deliver, but the more muted lines from him were almost perfect. Natalie Portman… I’m not sure if the character was flat or her acting. It seemed like you could reduce her to seductive Hollywood actress. She had no arc outside of what you knew she’d go through from the beginning. It seemed like the commentary was that ‘trauma is cyclical’ which is less than revolutionary. Score was amazing and I liked the direction and videography. Well produced, just felt like they built up to nothing. A lot of loose ends (kids, affair with director, Julianne Moore’s family, etc.) that were never addressed. Fun along the way, though.
