1 star is being kind. After the amazing, gory story telling of X and Pearl. MaXXXine is a boring, self indulgent love child of a director who wants to appeal to his arty friends who will tell him how great he is, and not the masses who will want to see the film and be entertained. If you show girls on dates silent movies from the 20's because you think it makes you interesting and unique, you will love this film. If you are Gabe from the U.S Office, you will love this. But if you like being entertained, solid acting, and good story lines you won't. Disappointed.

This is one of the best films I have ever seen. If you're wanting action and laugh out loud jokes, this isn't it, but for intrigue and awkward humour it is fascinating from start to finish. You are uncomfortably at a loss as to where the film will go every minute, and it's brilliant! John hamm's best work.
