The production, writing, directing, editing, have all been built upon from its foundation of Breaking Bad. The creators took what they learned and made it into something similar, but very new. This show is a bit slower-paced and more character-driven. Still, it uses the luxury of a slow pace to craft some fascinating, thoughtful, and deliberate scenes. The Breaking Bad universe is filled in more; background characters you had forgotten about are revisited in a sensical way, everything ties together and is kept consistent. We already know what happens to Jimmy, but we don't know how he got there, so there is more emphasis on the journey, not the destination.
