Cinematically the effects were really amazing. However, the appropriation of the Māori culture and a nearly ALL WHITE cast and no actual collaboration with indigenous communities (like the first one with native Americans) is deeply disturbing. Not only is Cameron appropriating the cultures, he is not selecting indigenous casting, not collaborating with indigenous people/organizations, and not allocating any major noteworthy funding to any communities he has appropriated. Deeply disappointing.
