In an age where the cartoons are lifelike and the reality televised version of life is cartoonish, it’s only right that some of the most pressingly surreal and urgent moments of this awe sum show happen in the b-roll of the episodes, where—unlike the main plot which is depicted by real life actors--video games and comic book like cartoons are used to represent subplot scenes that weave the fantastical and the less so together. All this in a world that is unquestionably dark satirical fantasy, but so familiar as to be only shades away from what we call reality in today’s world. In short, one of the best shows on television.
