The gameplay is slightly above average, but there’s a lot of issues. The story isn’t very interesting and the voice acting is awful. The emotions put into the voice don’t fit well and it’s trying way too hard to the point well past obnoxious.
The game is very similar to Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in both art style and gameplay with temples replaced with Vaults of Tartaros (It’s spelled like that in the game and they do it with basically every word remotely having to do with Greek mythology), and Zeus’s lightning replacing the spirit orbs found at the end, though it’s specific to stamina increasing whereas ambrosia found throughout the map acting as the health increasing items. This is also includes the scope from BotW in this, using the same button I might add, as well as the ability to place markers from said scope, the accessing of the inventory from the minus button instead of the plus button which brings me physical pain, the ability to cut down trees, but only with the axe, the exact same buttons used to shoot the bow, inventories specifically for each category of bows, wings, swords, axes, helmets, and armor, the stamina wheel, but a bar and without the ability to release at the last second to refill to max, the gigantic god statues like the one found in the hidden temple, chests that can only be opened after defeating enemies or completing puzzles, and so, so much more. Like another reviewer said, you take control and the BotW slaps you in the face.
It also has a skill tree or three where you can upgrade abilities, potions, and the like with golden amber used for potions, gems I don’t remember the name of for upgrading equipment, and Charon’s coins for the others. Although Charon’s coins can only be gotten from completing quests/challenges, you can get golden amber through opening chests around the map or cutting down “glowing trees,” but the trees don’t glow so just swinging around in a forest is your best strategy. The skill trees can be tedious to finish, but they at least give you the choice of how to get/improve abilities.
One more issue is the combat system. It’s like a combination between BotW and a standard RPG like one of the newer Final Fantasies. You can use your surroundings to help, which you’re going to want to do anyways because you do more damage and it’s much safer, but you’ve also got your never breaking, inefficient weapons of your dead brother’s Sword of Achilles, and the Axe of Atalanta which was just in a rock for plot reasons, as well as the Bow of Odysseus which was in Tartaros for some reason, but whoever put it there was nice enough to at least put it on a slab, and same with the Wings of Daidalos (like I said earlier).
The game is fun in general and there are lots of puzzles to complete if going for 100% (which of course I am), but the game gets repetitive and I’ve only started the first main quest after arriving at the Hall of the Gods. Not worth the money. It should really charge less, but it’s decent as an unofficial BotW 2.
