I really wanted to like this movie. It was a creative concept, but I'm really not sure if I've missed something major in its message or purpose. I didn't feel it had much new to add to the genre, aside from the stenographer angle. I couldn't decide if I bought Emile Hirsch's performance as Walden. The character seems written as a caricature of a person. Also, I *think* it was trying to show how the world stereotypes people suffering from drug addiction, sex workers, and Black people, but instead I felt that it actually just perpetuated these stereotypes. Disappointing always, but they really could have done better for a 2023 movie.
