Mark's Memories

James Bond without any womanising, jokes, sarcastic asides, and very few gadgets. Over two and half hours of shootings, car chases, and action scenes. The plot jumps around ridiculously, in one scene Bond is in a inflatable liferaft in the middle of the ocean with a huge ship coming, next minute he is back in London, taking out his second classic Aston Martin. A few nostalgic references to former bond movies. Maybe a good final outing for Daniel Craig, but maybe it is time for James Bond not to return.

I was amazed by this film, it is a story of young love against the backdrop of the Chernobyl disaster. It accurately depicted what happened at that awful time, and the terrible after effects of the radiation poisoning, while portraying an innocent carefree romance between a teenage girl and a young soldier. It was so poignant, and I was moved to tears at the end.I am British, and many British people wouldn't like the idea of an over three hour film in Russian (Ukrainian) with English subtitles, but please do watch it, you won't regret it, and have some tissues handy for the end.
