It's a sitcom. It's not meant to be hyper realistic, darkly edgy, or boundary pushing. It's meant to be easy and uncomplicated. I can't believe the number of reviewers listing ridiculous complaints.
- Can a woman in her 60's discover she has a half sister in her 20's? Yes. Every day there are men having affairs with women half their age.
- "This isn't Cheers or Friends." Well neither was Cheers or Friends after 1 episode. (And while we're on the subject: A rewatch of those shows would reveal some very problematic storylines, too.)
- "It's corny." Then sitcoms are not for you. If you think that the only entertainment worth watching needs to have vulgar language, nudity, and gruesome violence, then go watch any number of offerings on streaming services and cable. But there are plenty of other people who enjoy clean fun. A show like this is MUCH closer to their reality than Billions or Bear.
Lastly, if you're complaining that the bar is too brown, you're a racist. You may be in denial about this and rationalize it away, but you are.
Summary: Watch it for what it is.
