Community is worth getting into, and even merits an entire re-watch. The show understands how to pair content with high-concept plot structure.
The show had some trailblazing ideas, which still resonate in shows we enjoy today (e.g., compare season five episode eight of Community, entitled "App Development and Condiments," with Black Mirror's season three premier, entitled "Nosedive," and you will see that the central theme of the Community episode called "MeowMeowBeenz" clearly and convincingly served as the inspiration for the dystopian Netflix drama's social media rating system).
The show varies considerably in both content style and quality over the seasons; sometimes, it is possible to account for the variance. For example, Community's underperforming season four: the show's creator -- Dan Harmon -- left Community after season three, and season four's production was interrupted mid-season due to political infighting that led to Chevy Chase bailing on multiple episodes (see season four episode nine, entitled "Intro to Felt Surrogacy" and episode ten, entitled "Intro to Knots.") (Dan Harmon would return and make season five, which I think is one of the best seasons.) Finally, take the dismal season six: Community had been dropped by NBC after season five, and the show had lost three of seven core characters by the time season six was picked up by Yahoo! for online viewers.
To be sure, I absolutely adore this show. Here's hoping they make a movie!
