Adipursh :
We all grew up watching or Hearing Ramayana, this generation watched Ramanand Sagars Ramayan on Doordarshan ..the challenge would be where to start and end on silver screen..
The marriage ,banishment from Ayodhya was done via rolling titles in the beginning , this was a smart move ..the movie starts with introduction of Seetha,Lakshman and Rama during vanavasam period, the episodes during Aranyavasam ..Jatayu episode, Sabari episode Vali Sugrerva fight , Hanuman buring Lanka , finally raising the monkey army and nearing the Ocean to build Ram Sethu bridge cuts into second half.
The second half is the war episode, the action scenes weren't chill biting but it does the work , though the second half is all about vanquishing Ravan , it didn't have an emotional impact . The decimation of Ravan and the triumph of Good over evil with a frame of Lakshman ,Rana,Settha and Hanuman ends the picture the rolling end titles shows Ramas coronation as pictures .
Prabhas as Rama suited well , though some graphics were not wow moments it did capture the essence , the first half rolled smoothly, the interval scene cuts correctly to the march towards Lanka..Saif as Ravan did justice .
Overall depiction of Ramayana on big screen is always a challenge as everyone know the characters,so the essence of captivating audience lies in the screenplay and emotional connection , Om Raut did justice , one can see the effort and sacrifice and sweat spent on making this movie, so if the new generation connects ,it's going to be one of the industry's biggest hit.
Jai Sri Ram 🙏
