Review is for the complete first season: a generic sci-fi melodrama, this show is chock-full of over-used tropes and terrible writing.
Plot holes, plot conveniences, and characters making irrational decisions that serve to push the plot forward beat you over the head. If you want a combined five minutes of decent action scenes, look no further. Except the CGI is lackluster, especially considering the massive budget of the show at $10 million per episode. Not to mention the ridiculous lack of tactics and idiotic actions taken during combat. But that's all well and good because of the (sometimes literal) plot armor. Except when they need to be knocked out, then they remove their helmets to assist the writers in getting to the next plot point.
Boring soap opera scenes make up the majority of the show's runtime. The protagonist is a boring block of wood that has more emotional problems than a toddler throwing a tantrum. Most other characters have no depth, no nuance, and very little space to grow.
If you like the Halo series, you might get something out of this. Unless you care about the lore and established characters, in which case it will make it all the worse. Especially considering the writers/producers took pride in their ignorance of the source material and failure to hire a competent show runner.
The suits look incredibly good at least. The weapons look like fake toys that can either one shot any enemy or do absolutely nothing.
