I tried my best to immerse myself by playing alone in a pitch black room with headphones one but the game is just simply not scary at all and not immersive. The main problems are the constant cutscenes, flashbacks and the MC always talking to herself, Which ends up getting annoying really fast. There's also a game mechanic of having to rub your belly and talk to it which again just ends up being annoying and breaks immersion.
