Beautifully written and very nuanced as seen through the eyes of Cassandra. It’s such an honest and sensitive account of what it’s like to be a teenage girl on the cusp of womanhood. The writing is very humorous and there are so many witty comments even though the subject matter is often very serious ie love, religion, beauty and depression. It’s also a real page-turner and you really want to know what will happen next. I would thoroughly recommend this novel.

Very beautiful language and imagery. This one is a slow but fascinating burn with subtle undercurrents of emotion and complex characters. You know right from the start that something bad is going to happen so as I was reading this I was on edge which made it satisfyingly unsettling. I would definitely recommend this book but you have to stick with it and be ready to be immersed in all the poetic descriptions.
