Excellent film. Ken Loach is a brilliant documentarian of every day, of the quiet desperation to survive with integrity.

Definitely worth seeing, mainly for the fascinating history and some good acting. The romances too often came across as soap operaish which detracted from the authenticity of the story and acting. And while incorporating slapdash-humor and romance into such a dark, serious and thrilling time has been well done elsewhere, it unfortunately doesn’t happen here. It did get me to read up on many important artistic intellectual and historical figures and events, and I love that
