Cinematography was very good and would’ve brought in more money and better reviews had the writer not muddied the waters of the antebellum period depicting white people brutalizing blacks in a way that was just not commonplace for the time. That couldve been chocked up to “hollywood” except the ending showed the main character taking it upon herself to kill as many whites as she could, even after knowing that she was in the present day. The movie overall paints blacks and whites as hateful animals they are not. I learned nothing from this movie and am now dumber for having watched it. It offered no frightful scares and the only twist was the time period being the present which i guess in of itself is pretty scary to depict black people today as this angry and misinformed, which is again sorrowfully incorrect. Its not a horror flick, its a fictional smut film meant to divide people and replace historical events in the minds of those who do not study history with an event that never occurred in an attempt to anger people on a false narrative.
