Fantastic film. Couldn't take my eyes off it. I didn't find it confusing or disjointed. Haven't read the book. It was a story for me about what Christmas should be about. Looking to help people outside your immediate family. Noticing suffering and doing something about it. Central performance phenomenol. How to radiate decency and fear all at once. Loved the scenes of him just walking the town. It was a complete joy to watch because of the skills displayed in summoning up a time and place and some distressing history. Go see it. It's not it's a wonderful life but it should be shown every year in the same way.

This should be a great film but it isn't. Good actors, beautifully shot, atmospheric locations and an OK story. It just doesn't work. There's a disconnect between the characters and jarring jolts from the present to the past. The music is like having syrup poured in your ear and the script turgid. Shame as really was interested in era.

This is a treat of a film. Genuinely awe inspiring acting from both leads and fantastic script and scenery. Not sure why it's so low profile. Watch it.

As a play I thought it had a few weak spots. Too fantastical for me and not a great fan of the pj's.. But the performances were excellent. And if you have any doubt what an achievment the NHS and the importance of Nye Bevan's role in its formation was this play will put you right. I found it v emotional at times and freely admit tears were falling over the stats at the end. Sharon Small's role too small for such a good actress and thought Roger Evans as Archie was also excellent. Bring on the next election so we can respect all that that Labour government achieved. Goes without saying Michael Sheen was just wonderful. We need to believe we can do better.

I thought it was charmless, dull and predictable. Waste of talented cast imo. It didn't make me laugh or cry. I didnt learn much and was surprised to see so many positive reviews. Liked the setting and thought it captured the time well. Apart from that I would likey money back.

There were some ridiculous bits to be fair. The wedding where Alice asks the long suffering Jack to be her man of honour was a complete nonsense. His speech however I thought was interesting. The insemination love making scene pushed it luck but made me laugh. The assistant, Maya, is great with her scones. I don't think you have to necessarily understand why people behave the way they do to enjoy it. His constancy was after all most self sacrificing and initially selfish. Most romcoms are nonsense after all. I did believe in the chemistry between them and liked the fact neither of them are startlingly off the shelf good looking. The spectacular success of a woman from a difficult background looked unlikely but why not? How many successful business people have fractured and abusive backgrounds? It's certainly clearly not for everyone and I can see why. Lots of faults all clearly and truly recognised in reviews but I still found it intriguing and glad I watched.

I thought this was gentle good fun. Lovely performances and good pace. The Danish countryside looked fantastic and the castles impressive. Costumes also humorous on occasion. Bit reminiscent of chitty chitty bang bang. Worth the time.
