Illiterate Mochi

Its shocking how many people love this film. There’s so much wrong with it, I don’t even know where to start. Other than the beautiful animation and the nostalgia pandering of the music that was ripped right from the previous three movies, this story is a garbage heap. It’s so flawed and there are a million issues and continuity errors that it’s infuriating. But what really pissed me off wasn’t the bad storytelling and gaslighting, but the character assassinations. The worst was definitely Buzz; an incredibly intelligent character that was given brain damage in this film. It’s so disrespectful and insulting, especially to the original creators of these characters. If you really do love this movie and don’t think I’m right, I’d ask that you go back and watch every one of the movies back to back and see just how much they twisted and ruined not only the characters of the original trilogy, but of the messaging of the films as a whole. If I could give this movie negative stars, I would.

Although it’s not a tale we haven’t heard of before, it’s a good one. While not groundbreaking, it’s a beautifully animated movie with a lot of action, comedy, and a thoughtful message that many children may not have experienced yet. It’s a blast to watch and I was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful the animation is, especially the water. Highly recommended.
