Overall, I believe that these live action remakes often do not have much to recommend them over their cartoon counterparts I did find this an enjoyable movie. It was colorful, I thought Halle Bailey had a great voice, and I enjoyed myself. I was surprised at how restrained Melissa McCarthy was as Ursula, and they introduced her sisters, giving them such unique looks that I wished I knew more about them. I thought the CGI was beautiful and I loved the details such as how the mermaids had tails similar to famous fish. I would say this was a good movie, it had a lot of fun moments, and I think kids will love it... and they really seem to.
