It deviated a lot from the original story, and I didn't see the characters as the same from the anime or manga. The thing is, though, is I didn't mind the story being different. I felt like everything that they tried to do, (execute a different story in a world with the same magic,) they did really well. This works really well for suspense and mystery movies adapted from other sources. I couldn't guess what was going to happen, and I was constantly kept in suspense despite having seen the anime.

The greatest series to ever grace the planet. Absolutely fantastic from the start to finish, with beautifully executed characters. It is awesome animation at its finest, and I feel truely sorry for people who have not seen it. There will never be a series or animation that will surpass Avatar: The Last Airbender.
