I think this film is better than people give it credit for. It's just a silly thriller, which is generally what Barbet Schroeder tended to do (SWF anyone?). Keaton is camping it up as a blue collar Hannibal Lector (the film also co-stars a former Hannibal 'Lektor'!). The film (almost ends in a stupid car chase to the river scene) but the very last scene/ words spoken in the movie show you exactly why it shouldn't be taken too seriously.
