Unlike most people I was not a huge fan of Hill House and Bly Manor. Well done yes, but I never felt they were as amazing as the masses seemed to think. Midnight Mass came recommend by someone so I gave it a go. First 5 episodes...if I could give 10 stars I would. Superb acting by ALL and a great story. Hamish Linklater was BRILLIANT! Spine chillingly BRILLIANT!!!!! Many people complained about the characters long speeches. I thought they were mesmerizing and worth every word. Although episode 6 and 7 were okay and had some great moments, they were not the mind blowing perfection of the first 5. Still better than average TV but the story loses itself a bit in episode 6 and by the finale the finesse that was so evident and impressive in the first 5 is for the most part non- existent. For the finale it was kind of like " Did someone switch the channel to "Night of the Living Dead?" Not that that movie was not a classic, ( it was!) and one of the reasons was because it was consistent throughout the whole story. Midnight Mass lost its way.
I did not expect such a hectic, unpolished ending when the first 5 episodes were definitely some of the best TV/ horror I have ever seen. For that I had to take off a star but this series is without a doubt still worth your time.
